Hey Everybody,
It's 2024, and I've already peaked with my brand new track, "The Fundamentals of Basement Necromancy." It's all downhill from here, since this epic piece invokes dark magic and imagery from its big, brassy cinema, with shots of wizards dueling for the right to practice dark magics like necromancy.
Listen to it here.
Since it is the New Year's season on Newgrounds, now is the time to look back at all I've accomplished creatively in my output last year, which was nothing short of legendary. The purchase of a midi controller and a couple of mastering plugins has facilitated epic masterpieces I would've never thought possible on my old rig.
Which brings me to my first album release, the highly experimental "Eyyyy VW/Y."
Listen to it here.
While many of the songs can be found here on Newgrounds, such as "Beach Front Property" and "Bowneasy Part II (You Make Me Feel So Bad)," this short EP is best experienced over on Bandcamp (sorry @tomfulp).
The next release was forged out of the experimentation of the last. "Eyyyy VW/Y" walked so "Futurescape" could run. While it wasn't a huge commercial success, "Futurescape" has put my foot in the door over there in lala land with some entertainment producer technopreneur type. Let's just hope my foot stays in the door and he doesn't start asking me for foot pics for his fridge, and I don't have to cry in the shower later because he is doing god knows what with pics of my dainty lil doggies. Notable tracks off "Futurescape" include "Eaten By The Machine," "Tears in the Neon Void," and "Escaping The Lights."
You can listen to it here on Newgrounds, on Spotify, and on Bandcamp. It's also on YouTube and shit. It's everywhere, man.
My third project is incredibly ambitious. It's called "The Last Wizard in the Tower." It's a work in progress and not quite done yet. As of right now, it is a Newgrounds exclusive. Check it out here.
The whole album is notable and iconic, and I am enjoying making it so much I don't want it to be over.
So yeah, that was last year's output. Thank you, and have a great year!

The Making of "Secrets of the Arcane"
In the quest to capture the essence of a bygone era, the journey behind crafting the analog-infused masterpiece, "Secrets of the Arcane," took me deep into the annals of music history. Immerse yourself in the allure of production secrets and the subtle artistry that shaped this unique sonic experience.
As inspiration coursed through my veins, I delved into music documentaries and behind-the-scenes videos, absorbing the wisdom of industry legends. Rick Rubin's insightful interview with Sir Paul McCartney offered a glimpse into the early days of music production with the Beatles and Wings. A chance encounter with an obscure podcast revealed Alan Parsons' tales of producing the iconic "Dark Side of The Moon" and his other legendary works.
With my digital recreation of the EMI TG12410 Transfer Console from Abbey Road as a key element in the mastering chain, I meticulously dissected the tricks of the trade. McCartney's revelation about pushing instruments to their limits intrigued me. The deliberate decision to make certain elements peak added a raw intensity to albums like Abbey Road — a technique I eagerly incorporated into my own experimentation.
Drawing parallels with Alan Parsons' approach, I discovered the delicate balance of achieving that distinctive blown-out sound while safeguarding listeners' ears and equipment. The juxtaposition of intentional peaks and controlled audio levels became a cornerstone in crafting the auditory tapestry of "Secrets of the Arcane."
Listening to these industry veterans, I stumbled upon another revelation: the beauty of imperfections. Much like the Beatles' missteps that found their way into the final mixes, I embraced the idea that an occasional divergence from perfection could birth iconic moments of musical notation. These nuances, carefully preserved in the mix, added depth and character to the composition, elevating "Secrets of the Arcane" beyond a mere song to an immersive sonic journey.
In every chord, every peak, and every note, "Secrets of the Arcane" is more than a song — it's a tribute to the golden age of music production, a meticulous fusion of inspiration from the past and contemporary innovation. Join me as I unravel the layers of sonic alchemy that breathe life into this mesmerizing composition, inviting you to experience the magic that transcends time and resonates with the soul.

Lately, I've been alternating between sleepless nights lost in thoughtlessness and overthinking. This duality inspired my song, "The Dark Magics."The track starts with eerie pads, transitioning abruptly into acid house with a screaming MS-20 bass lead. After this intense phase, it returns to haunting pads for reflection before plunging back into the intense, unholy realm. In essence, "The Dark Magics" captures the extremes of emotion and thought, shifting between eerie calm and relentless intensity.

Behind the Music: "Dark Spell in the Clouds"
Back in the 90s, when I was just a kid, there was a peculiar toy on the market that captured my imagination. It was a glove with buttons on each finger, connected to a speaker that could play various sounds. Each finger on the glove corresponded to a different drum sound. I remember relentlessly pestering my parents to buy me this toy, and on my 7th birthday, my wish came true. However, much to my disappointment, the toy turned out to be a flimsy piece of junk that didn't even survive the unboxing. Yet, the reason I had wanted it so badly was the sheer magic it promised.
I can still picture myself as a young wizard, donning a magical gauntlet and conjuring thunderous storms by drumming my fingers in the air. It's funny how the power of imagination can turn an ordinary glove into a mystical instrument.
Recently, I found myself reminiscing about those days as I watched old hip-hop videos featuring freestyle artists engaging in fierce rap battles. It struck me that these rappers were like modern-day mages, wielding their words like ancient runes in a mystical duel. This connection between music and magic took me back to an old Adult Swim segment, "Live at the Necropolis Lords of Synth," where synth operators engaged in epic duels by casting musical spells. It's a whimsical concept, but one that underscores the enchantment of music.
The idea of music as a form of magic has been present throughout history. Even during the anointing of King Charles III, music played a pivotal role in the ceremonial proceedings. Music, like chanting, has the power to transport us to otherworldly realms, evoking emotions and transcending the ordinary.
What's truly fascinating is that musicians, through sound design, literally harness the laws of physics to vibrate the air around us. They create vibrations that resonate deep within us, touching our souls and weaving spells of emotion and memory. In this sense, music is indeed a form of magic—a magical language that speaks to our hearts and minds.
Now, I'd like to invite you to experience my latest musical creation, "Dark Spell in the Clouds." In crafting this piece, I aimed to channel the enchantment and wonder I felt as a child with that drumming glove. I hope you'll take a moment to listen to "Dark Spell in the Clouds" below and let it work its magic on you.

"Quantifiable Ending" is not just an electronic composition; it's a powerful anthem of resistance and personal triumph set in a futuristic dystopia. By delving into the emotional landscape of a confrontation with a despotic boss, the song becomes a relatable narrative that celebrates the transformative power of self-expression and the ability of music to spark change. In a world where individual voices are often suppressed, "Quantifiable Ending" stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit that drives us to rise against oppressive forces and find liberation through art.
Thus concludes Futurescape
